In order to expand his farming equipment and machines business the client required a new working space. Because of the large surface necessary for everyday business operations and possibility of building the complex in phases we decided to distribute the program into two buildings. Both buildings would be set parallel to the main street in the south-east. All the visitor parking places would be positioned next to the main road, while the manipulative surfaces necessary for work operations would be positioned around the hall in the north-west part of the building site.
The construction process would be divided into three phases:
In the first phase a simple steel construction hall would be built in the north-west part of the building site.
The second phase would include another hall in the south-east part of the building site, approximately the same size as the one in the first phase, but without the overhang. The hall would consist of a large, open space, and a series of smaller workshops along the north-western wall of the building.
In the third phase, an office building with an apartment for the owner would be built as an extension of the second hall.
Architectural concept
The north-west building is conceived as a space for reparation and assembly of farming machinery with the the main entrances to the building set on the south-east side and a full length overhang on the north-west side covering the exterior storage space.
The south-east building is comprised of two parts. First part is made of large hall and a series of small workshops. The second part of the building comprises of an exhibition space, small office, and an apartment for the owner on the first floor.
The outer facade of the buildings together with windows and entrance doors reflect the interior organization of the buildings. Klinker facade covers the small workshops /office / exhibition / living spaces, while the large halls are enclosed by white corrugated metal sheet facade.
